STRENUOUS HIKE – MOUNT TIMPANOGOS TRAIL TO EMERALD LAKE WITH OPTION TO SUMMIT MOUNT TIMPANOGOS
Tuesday, September 8, 6 AM – 3 PM
Meet at Quinn’s Junction in parking area near rest rooms for an on-time departure at 6:00 AM.
(If you prefer to meet at the trailhead parking, it is the Mount Timpanogos Trailhead, Mount Timpanogos Trail (052) at GPS coords 40.404593, -111.605208)

This is a strenuous hike from the Mount Timpanogos trailhead at the Aspen Grove Campground to Emerald Lake via the Mount Timpanogos Trail. It is about 11 miles, round trip, with 3500 feet of elevation gain. Bring hiking poles, if you like them.
Expect a total trip time of eight to nine hours from Quinn’s Junction, with a six- to seven-hour round trip hike from the trailhead to the lake (including around 30 minutes at the lake to see the mountain goats!) and a one-hour drive (each way) from Quinn’s Junction Sportex.

Also, if there is sufficient interest, a breakaway group may continue to the summit with a second leader.
Dogs are welcome; please bring a leash.
Please bring the four essentials, as noted on the club website, especially rain gear, as weather on Mt. Timp can come up unexpectedly.

Cell service will be intermittent on the hike, so before you leave, remember to download the map for offline use if you use an app.
All participants are required to sign the Club’s Activity Release Form, which will be provided by the leader.

If the weather does not look good on the morning of the hike, send a text or call Bill (not email) to see if the hike has been cancelled.
