SEMI-STRENUOUS HIKE – THE NOTCH TRAIL

Thursday September 24, 8 am – 4 pm

Meet in the parking lot at the Kamas Food Town near the Ace Hardware store for an on-time departure of 8:00 am .

We will be spotting cars as this is a one way hike. From Food Town ,we will carpool to the parking area near Trial Lake where we will leave half of the cars. From there, we will drive to the base of Bald Mountain where we will start the Notch Trail.

The Notch Trail from Bald Mountain to Trial Lake is 11 miles with 2500 feet of vertical.  We’ll climb through the notch which will be our high point and then down to Wall Lake before returning to our starting point at Trial Lake. You MUST be comfortable scrambling over and around rocks and large boulders.  Dogs are welcome but they should be comfortable with long steep hikes. Bring a lunch for the top.  4-5 hours of hiking with some water breaks along the way.  We should be back to the Food Town by 4:00pm.  Cell service may not be available.

Parking:  A National Forest Parking permit is required.

All participants are required to sign the Club’s Activity Release Form which will be provided by the leader.

Please remember the 4 hiking essentials including good hiking or trail footwear, sunscreen, a shade hat, water, and rain gear. Trekking poles are highly recommended.

If the weather is questionable on the morning of the hike, please call or text, not email, the leader to see if the hike has been cancelled.
