Moderate Plus Hike at UOP – Up Sasquatch and Down Moose Puddle

Meet at the UOP parking area past the museum. To get there continue up Olympic Parkway past the main parking lot on your left, around a descending bend in the road. The parking area for the hike is on the right side of the road at the bottom of that hill, adjacent to the refrigeration building for the bobsled track. There is also a gate there, preventing access to the rest of the road. Our parking lot is immediately to the right of that gate. If you don’t see your fellow hikers, call Pat’s cell phone.
We will have on on-time departure at 9:00 AM.
The hike up Sasquatch is about 2 miles with an elevation gain of about 1100 ft or 550 feet per mile and the hike down Moose Puddle is about 3.2 miles with a descent of about 1100 feet. We will hike at a pace of 2-2.5 mph, with stops along the way. The hike will take about 3+ hours.
The uphill portion will be a good hike for members who are interested in conditioning for longer hikes in the fall, as well as the upcoming Nordic ski season.
Hiking poles may come in handy and good hiking shoes are necessary. Cell service is available.
Be sure to bring the four hiking essentials, as listed on the Club’s website.
All participants are required to sign the Club’s Activity Release form which will be provided by the leader.
