Jeri & Rob will lead a moderate hike on Thursday, May 28 from Mormon Flats to Big Mountain Pass. Distance traveled will be 4 miles one way 8 miles round trip, with an elevation gain of about 1,200 feet. This is an out and back hike following the Little Emigration Canyon trail, which includes a portion of the Pony Express, California and Mormon Trails.
To car pool, meet at the parking area at the intersection of Jeremy Road, Daybreaker and North East Canyon dirt road at 9:00 A.M. We can then carpool on the dirt road to the trail head.
In the alternative, join us at the Mormon Flats Historic marker on East Canyon before 9:10 A.M. (take I-80, Jeremy Ranch exit #141, left at the Jeremy Store, right toward the Jeremy Golf course, follow Jeremy Road to the river, stay left on North East Canyon dirt road, follow the river for about 3 miles, park on the west side near the Mormon Flat Historic Marker)
Dogs are permitted on the eastern watershed.
