Tuesday July 21, Easy, Leisurely Wildflower Walk in Lower Albion Meadow – Out and Back

Meet at Park City Bagels at Quarry Village to carpool to the trailhead for an on time departure of 8:00AM.  Alternatively meet the group in the parking lot in front of the Albion Base Lodge at Alta at 8:45AM.  There is road construction limiting Little Cottonwood  Canyon to 1 lane for a stretch.  This delay could be 5-10 minutes.  Restrooms are available at the Albion Base Lodge.

This will be an out and back hike of about 2.5 miles with about 500 feet elevation gain on a well maintained dirt and rock trail.  The steepest section is at the beginning of the hike so we will take a couple of stops along the way.  We will hike at a leisurely pace of under 1.5 MPH with lots of stops to see and photograph the wildflowers.  The hike will take about 2 to 2.5 hours.

Two of the Club’s more knowledgeable wildflower identification members, Steve and Kathy Holmes, will co-lead and identify flowers along the way..

Dogs are not permitted in the Salt Lake watershed.  Cell service may be spotty.

Be sure to bring the 4 hiking essentials, including good hiking shoes.  Bug spray would be helpful as the flies may be biting.

All participants are required to sign the Club’s Activity Release form which will be provided by the leader.

If the weather is questionable on the morning of the hike, please call or text, not email, the leaders to see if the hike has been cancelled.
