Thursday July 9, – Easy Hike Gambel Oak North, Lost Prospector, Skid Row and Fox Tail Trails – Loop hike
Meet at the home of Kathy and Steve Holmes, 3380 Solamere Drive (Sunset Lodge) on Thursday July 9, 2026, for an on time 9:00AM departure. Please park on the upslope of Solamere Drive. Please do not park on both sides of the road.
There is a short walk on the road to the Gambel Oak North trailhead. We will take the Gambel Oak North to Lost Prospector to Skid Row to Fox Tail and end up back on the road headed to our starting point. The hike is a 3 mile loop hike with about 330 feet elevation change. It should take about 2 hours. We will hike at 1.5+/- mph as the group wants to go, stopping for water breaks and the views. NO ONE WILL BE DROPPED FROM THIS HIKE. These are well maintained trails with nice vistas towards PCMR, Canyons Village, Park Meadows, the Rail Trail, Round Valley and Quinn’s Junction. We will have cell service throughout the hike. We may encounter mountain bikers and will try to accommodate them by stepping up hill to allow them to pass. After the hike everyone, including dogs, are invited to our back yard for an outside break for provided refreshments and snacks. Bathroom facilities will be available.
Dogs are welcome but please have a leash for the road.
All participants are required to sign the Club’s Activity Release Form which will be provided by the leaders.
Please remember the 4 hiking essentials including good hiking or trail footwear, sunscreen, a shade hat and water.
If the weather is questionable on the morning of the hike, please call or text, not email, the leaders to see if the hike has been cancelled.
