Aquatics – 2021
Please join PCMSC every Thursday morning for paddle activity at Jordanelle Reservoir. We will meet at the Beach Pavilion at 8:30 AM sharp, so that we can be on the water by 9 AM.
Please also note that, early in the season the water can be very cold, 60 degrees or less. Therefore you should be comfortable in being able to get back onto your SUP or kayak if you fall into water at these temperatures.
EQUIPMENT RENTAL
You must email Ray Naudain, at raynaudain@eartlink.net, no later than 7:00 am Monday with:
· How many people will be participating, and
· Number of SUPs, Single or Double Kayaks that you want.
The cost for rental equipment for our 2 hour paddle, including a PFD, is $25 for a single kayak or SUP, $35 for a double kayak, plus tax, if you pay by credit card. However, if you pay cash the price is only $20 for a single kayak or SUP, $30 for a double kayak, with no extra tax applied.
If you don’t email Ray in time, we can’t promise rentals will be available. They have approximately 40 SUPs, 10 single kayaks and 5 double kayaks. If there are more requests than equipment, they will be given on a first reserved basis. Note that if there is enough equipment available, you can switch any time to another item. Please note, as with most equipment rentals, you are personally responsible if any of the rental equipment is damaged or lost.
Club activity release waivers will be completed at the sports desk. We will also have a sign in and sign out sheet at the sports desk so we are sure everyone makes it back. Please make sure to sign out when you return, so we don’t leave anyone stranded on the reservoir. A social/story period will often take place after paddling for those interested. Bring food, drinks and whatever else you want.
The information below should answer most questions, but feel free to contact Ray Naudain for additional help. If you are interested in helping out with less experienced paddlers during the outings, or would like to host an outing, please call or email: Ray Naudain (713-494-9145), raynaudain@earthlink.net.
DIRECTIONS TO JORDANELLE Take Hwy 40 to exit 8. Turn toward reservoir. Enter park (1/2 mile), then follow signs to the Marina for the Beach House or ask attendant.
GETTING INTO JORDANELLE (OR ANY) STATE PARK IN UTAH. If you participate in the Paddling Program and have your own equipment, PFD and paddle, the only cost involved is the entrance fee to the State Park. You can purchase a Senior Annual Pass if you are 65 and over for $50. If you are under 65, the cost is $100 for the year. This is a real bargain because you can use it for a full year at any of the wonderful state parks in Utah. Carload day passes for Hailstone, where we meet, are $10 for if you are 65 and over, and $20 if you are under 65.
ESSENTIALS FOR PADDLING ACTIVITIES
1) Safety – Personal Flotation Device (PFD -required to be worn), swimming skills. These are included with rentals.
2) Fluids – water or sports drink to cover time on water
4) Clothes – paddling shoes or sandals (or you can go barefoot), waterproof jacket, shirt or wind breaker, hat, sailing or biking gloves (optional), wet suit (optional) for SUP activity
Since the water is so low this year, it can be a long, rocky walk down the beach, so you may want water shoes.

3) Food, if desired – Snacks, trail mix, fruit or energy bars
