Monday, October 5th A Road Bike Ride: Midway to Alpine Loop via Cascade Springs
Meet at the Midway Dog Park for an on time departure of 10 am.
We will bike from the Midway Dog Park to the newly paved Cascade Spring road (located near Midway and Soldier Hollow), then proceed to Cascade Springs and on to the Alpine Loop, then return. The road to Cascade Springs is entirely new, while the road from Cascade Springs to the Alpine Loop is newly paved. It’s a beautiful ride with stunning scenery. The road to the pass above Cascade Springs is a steady climb. The short road down to the Springs is steeper, but not excessively so. From the Springs to the Loop is another steady climb with a short downhill midway, and then another steady climb to the Loop. Crews are still working on an area just before the summit before the Springs to secure the mountain for avalanche control. Depending on when we arrive, it is possible to have as much as a 30 minute delay.
Ride Distance: 32 miles
Ride Time: 3.5-4 hours
Elevation Gain: Approximately 4200 feet
This will be an email RSVP sign up ride and will be limited to the first 10 A riders. Please RSVP to Tim Ricks htricks1@gmail.com Tim will advise you by e-mail if you are confirmed or if you are on a wait list.
