MODERATE HIKE – BLOODS LAKE NEAR BONANZA FLAT
Monday, August 31, 4:10 pm
Meet at the Bloods Lake Trailhead parking lot off Guardsman Pass Road for a 4:10 pm on-time departure. Parking is free after 4pm. Please carpool to the trailhead, as this is a popular hike. Note: The Bloods Lake Trailhead parking lot has a camera which can be used to observe conditions, and check for available parking. Please visit: https://mountaintrails.org/parking-cams/.
This will be an out and back hike of about 3 miles with ~700’ of elevation gain; the hike starts above 9,000 feet. The trail takes us through alpine meadows, aspen groves, and evergreen forests on a well-maintained trail. The final portion of the trail heading down towards the lake becomes steeper and is slightly more rugged. Poles may be useful if you like hiking with them. Bring a snack to enjoy at the lake which is quite beautiful!
Dogs are allowed on a leash but are not permitted down at the shoreline of Bloods Lake itself.
Bring the four hiking essentials.
All participants are required to sign the Club’s Activity Release form that will be provided by the leader.
If the weather is questionable on the afternoon of the hike, please call or text, not email, the leader to see if the hike has been cancelled.
