Moderate hike – Lofty Lake Loop Trail in the Uintas, Friday, August 21
Meet in the parking lot to the left of Foodtown in Kamas at 8:30 AM for an on time departure. We will car pool to the trailhead, as the parking is somewhat limited and this is a popular hike.
The trailhead is off the “Mirror Lake Highway” (SR 150) at the “Pass Lake Trailhead” which is a dirt road on the left aside of the highway just past “Pass Lake” which is after “Mirror Lake” in the Uintas. This is a fee area; a National Park Pass or day pass is needed to park your car at the trailhead.
This will be a loop hike of about 4.6 miles with 950 feet of elevation gain We will hike in a clockwise direction in order to have a more gradual elevation gain. Hiking poles may be useful, especially on the downhill side of the hike. We will hike at a pace of about 2 mph and the hike, including stops, will take about three hours.
Bring a snack to enjoy at the view area which is quite spectacular!
Dogs are allowed. Cell service is very limited.
Bring the four hiking essentials. Bug spray and rain gear are always a good idea when hiking in the Uintas.
A lunch stop at the Notch is optional.
All participants are required to sign the Club’s Activity Release form that will be provided by the leader.
If the weather is questionable on the morning of the hike, please call or text, not email, the leader to see if the hike has been cancelled.
