Monday July 6 – Moderate Plus Hike to Clayton Peak
Meet in the parking lot of the former Holiday Village 4 Cinema for an on-time departure of 8:15am (to avoid the heat). Note for those of you who are newer members, the former Holiday Village 4 Cinema is between Kearns Blvd and Fresh Market and next to First Community Bank.
6 miles, 1800 feet of vertical. We’ll climb to the top of Clayton Peak, which rises above Lake Lackawaxen. You MUST be comfortable scrambling over and around rocks and large boulders. No dogs as. it is serious scrambling with steep drops. Bring a lunch for the top. 4-4.5 hours of hiking, we’ll also have some water breaks on the way. We should be back to the Cinema by 2:00pm. Cell service may be spotty.
Parking: Parking fees at the trailhead will be in effect for those without a 84060 parking pass, so we’ll try to consolidate to as few cars as possible. Parking is $5.00 an hour, please plan to chip-in to pay your share.
All participants are required to sign the Club’s Activity Release Form which will be provided by the leaders.
Please remember the 4 hiking essentials including good hiking or trail footware, sunscreen, a shade hat and water.
If the weather is questionable on the morning of the hike, please call or text, not email, the leaders to see if the hike has been cancelled.
