Location:  Wasatch Mountain State Park Visitor Center in Midway at the corner of Warm Springs Road and Snake Creek Road

Meet at the Wasatch State Park Visitor Center for on-time departure at 7:30am.  Note:  You will need a Utah State Park Pass to park here.

This will be a great day to test out your low gears, or maybe go play pickleball instead.  There are many opportunities on the ride to cut it short, if you do not want to do the full ride, and everyone is welcome to do that, if they like.

Total ride:  52 miles & 9,700’ elevation gain (five climbs).

Climb #1 (4,000’):  We’ll ride up the very steep and challenging Pine Canyon to Guardsman Pass (Mile 9.4).  This climb is about 4,000’.  We’ll go down the other side of Guardsman Pass to Brighton and stop for a break at the Brighton Store and Café (mile 12.8).

Climb #2 (1,000’):  We’ll climb back up to Guardsman Pass (Mile 16.3) from Brighton.  This climb is about 1,000’. We will descend the East side of Guardsman Pass to the fork at Pine Canyon. If you are feeling too trashed to climb any more, then you can head back down Pine Canyon to the ride start now.  If you want more, then head to Empire Pass. Descend towards Park City on Marsac from Empire Pass.

Climb #3 (650’):  At mile 23.2 make a left turn onto Hillside Ave.  Hillside dead ends at Main St.  Go right on Main St, then an immediate left on King Rd.  Stay on King Road for another steep climb until King Road turns into dirt (at mile 24.5).  This climb is about 650’ at an average grade of about 10.3%.  Turn around where King Road turns to dirt and descend back to Marsac the same way we came.  Go left at Marsac and continue to descend to the traffic circle where we will make a right turn and head towards Snow Park on Deer Valley Drive.  There is an opportunity to take another break at the Deer Valley Café near the ponds.

Climb #4 (2,900’):  From the Deer Valley Café, head towards Snow Park then go right on Royal St. and climb up to Wheaton Way.  Descend Wheaton Way to Marsac.  Continue up Marsac past the Montage and continue up to Empire Pass.  We will take the private Twisted Branch Road up to Empire Pass (Mile 33.6).  Head up to Guardsman Pass one more time (mile 36.2).  If you have had enough at the top of Pine Canyon, you can ride back to the ride start instead of doing the 900’ climb up to Guardsman Pass.  Turn around at Guardsman Pass and return to the ride start at Wasatch Mountain State Park.  We will have the opportunity to take a break at our cars if you have stashed some food or drinks in your car.

Climb #5 (1,000’):  Now we can do one more climb to finish this day off right.  This last 3.1 mile climb is up Snake Creek Canyon Rd to where the road turns to dirt.  When you hit the dirt road turn around and coast all the way back down to Wasatch Mountain State Park Visitor Center and call it a day.
