Moderate Hike – Slate Creek Loop
Friday, June 12. 9:00 a.m.
This is a moderate hike from the Slate Creek trailhead around the Slate Creek Loop trail. 6 miles, 900 feet. This loop trail winds through dense forests of pine and aspen, alongside the picturesque Slate Creek. Bring hiking poles, if you like them.
Meet at the Kamas Food Town parking lot for an on-time departure of 9:00 am. Expect a four- to five-hour total trip time from the Food Town. This is in the Uinta National Forest, so there is a fee for use. Carpooling from the Food Town with someone who has an annual pass is best, but if you need to purchase a day-use pass, the fee station is just down and across from the trailhead parking. If you prefer to meet at the trailhead parking, it is the “Slate Creek Trailhead ” at GPS coords 40.6314935922995, -111.18492099101515. There is no cell service in the area, so remember to download the map for offline use, if you use an app.
Dogs are welcome to join; please have a leash with you. Please bring the four hiking essentials, as noted on the club website. All participants are required to sign the Club’s Activity Release Form, which will be provided by the leader. If the weather does not look good on the morning of the hike, contact the hike leader(s) to see if the hike has been cancelled – text or cell. Please do not select email communication for the morning of the hike.
