Saturday August 14 Jon Scarlet will lead a moderate road bike ride in Park City. This will be a good chance to practice your (gentle) hill climbing and turning skills. The ride will be in conjunction with the inline skaters from the SkateNow group from Salt Lake. We’ll start with 4 miles on the Union Pacific Rail Trail (3% grade down going out), then do a couple of miles on a wide recently paved deserted road with a long, great hill. Then we’ll take a paved bike path under SR 248 to a network of several miles of smooth, newly paved roads around the new hospital and the ice rink. We’ll regroup when we’ve all had enough of twisty hilly roads for the return 4 miles (3% uphill this time) on the Rail Trail. Scenery is great. Except for an occasional bike, we should just about have the route to ourselves. Don’t forget the sunscreen and water. There is no shade on this trip. Bathrooms are at the start. We can have lunch at El Chubasco or at a brew pub back at the start of the Rail Trial. Total mileage will about 15. Meet at 10AM at ”City Park” in Park City near the skate park – (1400 Sullivan Road) 14th Street and Sullivan Road on the east side of Park Avenue, at the south end of City Park. Review the Biking Essentials. Helmets required. Questions - call Jon at 508 450 1647

Sunday, August 22 Sharon Kellner will lead a moderate road bike ride. Meet at parking lot of Wasatch Bagels 8:30AM, or at the parking lot of the Heber Recreation Fields 9:00AM (from Park City, turn right off US 40/189 onto W 100 S/Rt 113. Large parking lot will be on your left, just past Snake Creek Grill on the right.) We will ride out to the Wasatch State Park golf course, then over to the Soldier Hollow golf course clubhouse, and return. Fairly flat route of about 20 miles, with a couple mild uphill sections. The roads of the Heber/Midway valley on Sunday morning are always quite peaceful, so no worries with vehicular traffic. Brunch/lunch afterwards at one of the area’s quaint little places. Come on out and enjoy the views. Moo! With questions, please call the leader, Sharon Kellner, 435.655.2983. Review the Biking Essentials.

Saturday August 28. Don Jacob will lead a moderate-to-advanced mountain bike ride on the Mid-Mountain Trail from Deer Valley to the Canyons, distance is about 20 miles. Meet at the Canyons lower parking lot at 8:00am. We will leave some cars there and transport bikes and riders to the Empire Lodge at Deer Valley. Bring lots of water and some food. Helmets required. Review the Biking Essentials. If questions please call Don at 435-901-2356.
