Mission of Park City Mountain Sports Club

August 28, 2008

The Mission of the Park City Mountain Sports Club is to promote recreational and social programs that appeal to the vast majority of its membership. Having fun together will be the prime focus of all Club activities including a wide variety of summer and winter sports and a broad spectrum of social programs.

Objectives

1. Recreation

Organize an active summer and winter recreational sports program that includes skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, mountain biking, etc. Focus on leveraging the outdoor beauty and magical splendor of our local surroundings during all seasons of the year. Offer a broad cross section of recreational opportunities to all Club members (i.e. beginner, intermediate and advanced) as long as there are sufficient numbers to participate and leaders are available from among the group. Encourage and arrange group travel to attractive vacation locations, both domestic and international.

2. Social

Establish an active Park City based social program, which promotes friendship and establishes a warm camaraderie among all Club members. Utilize the facilities of local pubs/restaurants and parks as well as private residences to house social venues. Offer combined recreational and social activities when appropriate.

3. Leadership, Education and Training

Promote leadership of all sports and social activities from among the active members. All Club members should be encouraged to step forward to lead sporting venues and social programs. Promote the training of members in group leadership techniques and outdoor safety and survival. Support the education of members in geology, identification of animal tracks, flora and fauna, ecology, environmental stewardship, etc.

4. Membership

Recruit an adult membership (21 and up). Welcome new and prospective new members by making them feel at home at both recreational and social endeavors. Guests at either are always welcome.

5. Administration

Headquarter the Club in Park City and recruit new members from Park City and the immediate surrounding area. People living outside this geographic area are welcome to independently pursue membership and to participate in the sports and social programs. Establish a timely and comprehensive communications program with all Club members, utilizing the hotline, the newsletter and advances in Internet and other developing technology to the degree feasible.
