2012 Bash at the Park Meadows Country Club, Saturday, February 11, 2012

By Barbara Maben, Social Director

Saturday, February 11th, will find PCMSC holding their annual “BASH” at the fabulous Park Meadows Country Club, with its panoramic views of the golf course and ski resorts.  It’s a sight to gaze upon, for sure!  The festivities begin at 6:30 PM with check-in and a short do-si-do over to the cash bar before the offering of our Western buffet.  Yes, I said WESTERN, pardner!  Western attire, you bet!  So get out those cowboy boots and hats, shirts and jeans, vests and jackets and any other western gear that suits your fancy, and mosey on over for a rip roaring good time.

What is the “BASH” you ask.  It consists of our annual required business meeting and the election of a new Board for 2012-2013.  I’m sure our outgoing President, Brenda Wood, will have a few words to say too.  Oh, don’t fret; it takes only a short time to complete the meeting.  Here’s the low-down on the night; check-in, dinner, meeting and then dancing till the cows come home.

Dancing to tunes played by the George T. Gregory Band will liven up the last of the evening after the sun sets and the moon rises to the occasion.  George is well known around the area and is a valuable member of PCMSC.  His band plays a variety of styles from Jazz to Rock and Roll and everything in between.  You’ll be swinging and swaying to the best around.

Tickets are available NOW for purchase from Board members Brenda Wood, Jeri Brooke, Sue Johnson, Stan Hooley, Peggy Hanson, Kitty Imdahl, Jon Scarlet, Bill Whitaker and Barbara Maben for $50 per person.  If you’re unable to attend any of our TGIF’s or other functions to purchase your tickets, we have will-call available for call in reservations through any Board member.  Please keep in mind we have a limited number of tickets available on a first come first serve basis for this special event and all tickets must be purchased by noon on February 9th.  No exceptions pardners.  Wish I could.

Well, that gives you the info on our 2012 “BASH” so see ya there.  If you have any questions give Barbara Maben a call at 435-649-3778 or 435-640-9756

As part of the annual business meeting, and in keeping with our rules of governance, the following candidates are recommended by the current board of directors and will be voted upon by club members at the Bash:

President: Jeri Brooke
Vice President: Sue Johnson
Secretary: Becky Hinton
Treasurer: Stan Hooley
Past President: Brenda Wood

UNIVERSITY OF UTAH GYMNASTICS MARCH 2

By Charlie Hawker

On Friday, March 2, PCMSC will once again attend a women’s gymnastics meet featuring the highly successful University of Utah versus Oregon State University. The meet starts promptly at 7:00 pm at the Huntsman Field House after our group has dinner at the Red Robin Restaurant, across from Foothill Village at 1313 Foothill Drive (telephone 801-582-0632). The pre-season poll picked the Lady Utes 5th in the national rankings with Oregon State, a very good team, picked 7th. This is the first year Utah will participate in the PAC 12 Conference. In that pre-season poll, UCLA was picked first (also first in the national poll), Utah 2nd, and Oregon State 3rd. The University of Utah is perennially one of the top ranked gymnastics teams in the U.S. and they have been NCAA Champions nine times over the last 35 years (second only to Georgia’s ten championships). Utah has led the NCAA in attendance 26 times and holds all attendance records – season average and individual meet. Two years ago our PCMSC group was present when Utah set an all-time attendance record of 15, 552 in a meet against Georgia.

Tickets are $4.00 each and we have a continuous block of 36 tickets in Section H looking out at the vault and floor exercises. The deadline for payment is Friday, February 24. Please make checks payable to Charles Hawker and mail them to him at 1986 Picabo Street, PC, UT 84098. Tickets will go fast (our group always sells out), so don’t delay in getting signed up. We will not be able to purchase additional tickets. Please call Charlie Hawker at (801) 584-5261 or (435) 649-7569 or email him at hawkercd@aruplab.com.
